Given that both Murdock and her own mother are black, Dot was intended to be black too but they probably wanted to keep a ratio of brown vs white characters. You don't have to worry.

Ash Ketchum fans deserve nothing. They don't understand or appreciate the elements that made Ash's stint enjoyable even during the lowest points. They just want a revolving door of characters for Ash to unceremoniously defeat, and nothing else. Removing Goh from Journeys destroys the only soul that series had.

The good thing about Horizons is that its NOT following the games. All this would be is just like the pre-Alola series where Ash mainly tackles the gyms with Arven and Penny's stuff happening sporadically in between.

Instead they are following an even garbage plot about beta doormat traveling in an airship to learn how her special bloodline makes her better than everybody while bad guy chase after her.

The story of the game was several times better with more likable characters.

Its as if you never watched any past Ashnime series at all. The most likely thing would happened if Ash travel with Arven and Julian to find all the herbal mystica. Ash wants to battle titan pokemon, Juliana wants to complete her treasure hunt and Arven wants to heal his dog. They are often contracted by a mysterious caller named Cassiopeia who gives them information on sightings of titan Pokémon but in return she want the main trio to do something for her which always involves Team Star. Geeta convinced Ash to take on Paldea gym leader while in turns out Juliana already completed her gym challenge but quit after losing to Rika and using Treasure Hunt to get her motivation back. The whole series will follow episodic style like previous series such as MPM and OS-DP series.

DP was the peak of the anime in terms of writing. No series reached its character development, arcs, battle sequences, etc. Ash wasn't incompetent, Dawn is popular for a reason, great evil team with an added anime exclusive Hunter J, Champion is heavily involved, best rivals by far for both Ash and Dawn, each Pokemon felt well developed for the most part. Ash even got to use his reserves in the league, something that never happened since and the moronic writers of JN failed to do. Nothing tops DP In terms of the overall writing (although most anime series have shit writing anyway).

Pretty sure we will get a Kamen rider parady episode like OS and BW series with Lokix.

Nah, The plot is still bad. It basically generic story about some doormat traveling on an airship to find some treasures while bad guy chases after them like "Nadia The Secret Of The Blue Water" , "Eureka Seven" and "Daichi Warrior".

Horizon is worst because there is no hook. People didn't watch "Nadia The Secret Of The Blue Water" for plot, they watched to see how a nerdy boy woo a beautiful dark skin eye-candy named Nadia which is a rarity back than and still is. However Horizon has no hook like that. Nobody gives a dam crap about Liko's super special ancestors and what magical destiny he has left behind for her.

Plenty of Ash fans have attacked Goh calling him a self insert. Just like Alain. Hell, they were even calling Gladion a self insert up until he lost to Ash because of how scared they were of Ash losing to him.
Ash fans are so toxic, it's no surprise they're still attacking Horizons, Paldean Winds, Concierge, etc.

How about a thought experiment. Rewind to clock back to the beginning of JN. Replace Ash with an identical character named Dust. Same looks, same pokemon, same everything but name. JN then continues exactly as it did before. Everything is the exact same except for the fact that it is, technically, a different character with a different name.

Although HZ is expanding the scope of the anime in some areas like the ones the other anon listed, it's still pretty much the same show. But instead of "the League Tournament" waiting at the end it's "Rakua & Lucius". And even that's uncertain, for all we know there might still be an obligatory rushed League Tournament like always.

Depends on how the characters named Dust in handled as a protagonist. If Dust has a likable personality that makes people root for him than he can carry the show even if its follows the same story.

Supposed Dust is the main character in the series centered on Blueberry Academy. He is a newbie who has a massive crush on Lacey and wants to be the BB League Champion to woo her. The story focus on him gradually improving his skills as a battler and gain genuine motivation to become a Pokémon trainer outside of wooing Lacey.

This is far more interesting than Liko travelling the world to learn how special her bloodline is compared to everybody.

He already has multiple true friends, the Idea of a single friend that is more special than all others friends that something friendless people imagine.

Idgaf about Ash. I think HZ's only crime is not being funny. SM and JN set a weekly expectation for me (I became a weekly viewer sometime in 2017) that there'd be bouncy, silly animation and Pokémon hijinks most weeks. We'd at least get one solid reaction image a week. HZ feels like it took a sedative. We occasionally get a little funny moment, but it's mostly really dry.

I think they started doing the no reserves so it wouldn't confuse the kids since the show is aimed at the 10 and under crowd.

So in other words Kid A 10 years old watches 1 Pokemon series which last 3-4 years and once it ends kids is now a teen and has probably moved on.

When it's a solid and the stream is tight enough, sure it's possible.
The problem is that Swift is not always big solids in a tight stream like that. It comes out in a number of stars of varying sizes at varying angles, not something a simple tail held out can prevent. It is not possible to "disperse" like you're imagining.
Say Pikachu holds their tail out in front of them: that's great, it blocks the stars that are coming directly from the front. But what about the stars a bit to the side? The one about to slam into his side? Swift is a homing attack that never misses. Pikachu will be hit even by a Swift that's used properly.

Magical Leaf, however, is a swarm of leaves encompassing a very wide area. Even when fired directly at the opponent like in Horizons, it encompasses too wide of an area for Pikachu to simply hold an Iron Tail out in front of it. It's an almost gaseous mass of grass energy. It can't be deflected like a rock.

Observe the wide firing base in this one. These Swift stars are being launched from a wide area, not a narrow stream like a Quilava's mouth. Pikachu would be unable to block this with Iron Tail, unless he pulled out some straight up ninja shit and quickly cut them out of the sky.

Given Swift's homing properties, it doesn't even need to all be fired from the same 'spot' either. It could, in theory, be fired in motion, or fired away from the enemy to give it a curve.
Any of you who've played video games with homing attacks should know what I'm talking about: you move, you shoot the homing attack, and now the enemy has to worry about homing projectiles coming at them from everywhere. Or you shoot one straight up, one to the left, one to the right, and one straight at them, and now your target has to worry about attacks coming from 4 different directions.
It's understandable why they haven't animated Swift(and other homing attacks) like this; it'd cut into their budget and the writers probably don't care to make well-written fights in the first place. Why animate an Electrode rolling around the arena at mach 4 while using Swift, encompassing the arena in a sea of stars, when it's cheaper and easier to have it just shoot out of their mouth?

Ash using Pikachu would be too overkill for Liko and Roy. Narratively it would be better if Ash has a feisty Charcabet that doesn't listen to him and immediately picks a fight with Roy's Fuecoco. Wait, this was an official art? This supposed to be Ash's main Kanto team? Well Ash already has two fully evolved Grass starter so Bulbasaur no longer needed to evolve anymore. Off course the animators could have done something crazy like Ash's Bulbasaur defeating Alain's Mega Charizard X on JN but they banned him from using his reserves on JN.

He just meant to be a replacement of Ash in Liko's story to keep the boys watching. Worst part is that they based him on XY- JN Ash instead of the OS-DP Ash. Liko has the pendent, she has the special parents, she has the special bloodline and even the Six legendary heroes will go to her.

My copy of Pokemon Story finally came in. I've done a quick read-through of the chapters about the beginning of the anime (from Masakazu Kubo's proposal to Nintendo to make an anime, to the preview screening of the first episode). Although Kubo's name is on the book, it seems like the person who wrote the words is Kenji Hatakeyama. It's still largely from Kubo's POV though, and it's a pretty aggrandizing account whenever Kubo shows up in the interview portions. Anyway here are some of the highlights:
>Choji Yoshikawa, Kunihiko Yuyama and Shukichi Kanda were interviewed. Of the writers, Shudo, Yukiyoshi Ohashi, and Hideki Sonoda were the only three mentioned, and mostly in the margins.
>Shudo is mentioned three times: In his margin feature, in passing when discussing how Team Rocket was changed for the anime, and near the end in a quote by Ken Sugimori, who said he was a big fan of Yoichi Kotabe, Yuyama and Shudo, and got excited whenever he met them in production meetings. Not much is said about anything he did specifically.
>Choji Yoshikawa says that he came up with the Time Bokan idea for the TRio, although Shudo is also credited for writing out their setting. This seems to line up with what Shudo said about the TRio's gimmick being pitched before he got there, but with him saving them from the trash bin.
>The story of the Time Bokan idea being rejected is not brought up, although right before they talk about Yoshikawa's pitch, there is a quote from Kanda about the number of proposals they made being shot down being something he couldn't help but think about.
>The executive-level people that often came to production meetings included Tajiri, Takashi Kawaguchi (Nintendo), "and Kubo would of course show up and give his opinions."

It's worth noting that none of the production people (aside from maybe Yoshikawa) said anything nice about Kubo. Ordinarily it wouldn't be worth mentioning, but given how often Shudo throws shade at him, I couldn't help but notice.

I can think of several reasons.
Even a farfetch'd one: "On The Horizon" is an important line sung at the end of the LoTR when Frodo was retiring to distant shores. PM23 is the Horizons from where Ash is no longer present.

So now that we know Sprigatito has been holding back this whole time, it's basically confirmed that Sprigatito is even stronger than Ash's Pikachu. Pikachu needed a Thunderstorm for his power in episode 1, meanwhile Sprigatito did it all naturale, showing that the cat has more power and potential.
At this point it's inevitable that Sprigatito is going to end up stronger than Ash's Pikachu. Probably even before this season ends, because Grass resists Electric.

If Ash did not accidentally save her when she was scared and in extreme duress, she would have never liked him. This is proven by the fact that nobody liked Ash and he had 0 childhood friends.

Yeah, that's the only possible way I can imagine someone seeing Drayton, fucking DRAYTON of all characters, as a mean person. He's one of the nicest characters in the DLC, he's so chill.
