Hi 4chan!
Hope everyone's doing well! I'm an Italian Game Localizer.
Just wanted to drop a quick note about how we handle Pokémon localization, especially with potential releases on the horizon.

So, here's the deal: When there's a new Pokémon game in the works (even if they're keeping it hush-hush for now), we usually get two sets of editing files. The first set is for translating directly from Japanese, while the second, in English, helps us nail down those tricky references during the localization process. But, you know, it's not always that straightforward. Some terms, like the elusive "Terastal" phenomenon, already come with their own English names courtesy of Nintendo of America and TPCi. So, in those cases, we just roll with the English version to keep everything consistent.

Typically, we get the workload package about 5-6 months before any big announcements. For bigger projects, we split up the tasks among different translation teams to keep things running smoothly. However, this time, our secondary team (usually handling smaller tasks) hasn't been clued in on any upcoming projects, so we've been sitting on our hands a bit. This tends to happen more with DLC projects, where we can manage with just the primary team.

So, if there are any new Pokémon games revealed during the Pokémon Presents event, chances are they'll be DLCs rather than major releases like a new generation, a fresh "Legends" title, or remakes.
