>>55523448>can canonically shrink but even with legendary power cannot growFirstly, we're not even getting raw Eternatus power. They take the form of Galar particles, which, from the limited lore I can find, are a filtered form of said energy.
>that's not something EVERY Pokemon can doYes, I concede this point.
But why couldn't they with help from a mystical particle that is filtered legendary energy? Given Trace exists, it's not like other Pokemon CAN'T acquire the illusion ability.
None of this was my point anyways though, my point was that because Zoroark, a Pokemon specializing in light illusions, could do it, then that means that it would be within the universe rules to allow other abilities to do it as well.
>The only other explanation is that the Pokeball also projects a hologramGiven that Porygon exists and is also a hologram, yes. This is something that could be happening.
HOWEVER, that was not my argument, nor was this even an argument. I was asking if the Pokeball is growing, and if it projecting a physical field was possible. I have since looked into it and I have to concede that the Pokeball grows.
The hologram, as stated before, is ALSO an option here, but I don't think it's worth pursuing.
>They are flat out getting power from an ancient legendaryNo, Eternatus' energy was leaking into the universe and being filtered through some sort of barrier, taking the form of the Galar particles, something we HAVE BARELY ANY CANONICAL UNDERSTANDING OF. Given they were running out, Galar particles could have SEVERE limitations that Eternatus does not. This is why I specified BINDING AGENT in my metaphor, because that's effectively what Galar particles seem to be.
>Everything in the anime suggests they are actually growingI don't consider the anime canonical to the games, but the games do take heavily after the anime. Even if the anime is wrong here, in all likelihood the system will be retconned to fall in line with the anime.
