Acknowledge that about half the fanbase is 25+ years old, and that kids aren't *that* dumb, so make new games at least as challenging as Platinum. Include optional challenge modes on par with Drayano hacks.
Take the first four (or five I guess) generations as a base for the dex, acquirable in all games going forward. Everything 6 and onward can be subject to dexcuts, which should vary by game so that the whole dex is available every generation.
Simplify and retcon evolution paths (Like how Leafeon just needs a leaf stone now), and scrap a lot of items (make all the mega stones into one "mega stone" that works for all of them, for instance), making Dexcuts less necessary for balance.
Dragon type Eeveelution.
Revert to 2007-2012 era character design. Based on the constant deluge of Pokégirl threads, these characters clearly get people going.
For the love of God don't bring back HMs. It's the one good change of nu-Pokémon.
De-emphasize KANTOOOOO, although they've been better about this than in Gen 6.
