>>55638966The short-eared and tailed "dog fighting dog" look for the fighting Eevee does make sense, but my problem with the design, as with many fighting Eevee designs, is the Sonic Boom sports tape. It's a very artificial and on-the-nose way to bring across the typing and really turns me off from a design. A lot of the others from that lineup are honestly a bit on the uninspired side, I feel like. And I don't like arbitrarily placing gears or other sharp pieces on the steel type, as that reduces its cuddle factor.
This is what I have for fighting and steel at the moment, artist in the watermark. The fighting type has the scruffy, short-eared look, but has more of a tribal warrior aesthetic, which I think is more unique - I can imagine it being a defender of Eevee colonies. As for steel, I'd always thought that one of those RC robot dog toys would be the best thing to model the steel Eevee off of, and this design pulls that off in spades. Smooth (and thus huggable), with very unique ears, eyes, and tail, and a big ol', "hewwo, hi! I'm so happy to see you!" smile that you'd expect from a robotic Vee programmed for love (although I prefer to imagine it more as a cyborg, with the same warm, beating heart as any Vee underneath the metal).
This artist may not be the most technically proficient, but they seem to have an eye for design, and I think in the hands of a better artist, these designs could really pop. Only change I'd make is removing the darker fur from the fighting type's rump, and thus have the tail and collar separated. But what do ya'll think?
