>>55628783I know most here wont share my opinion, yes, I do.
I already consider SV to be a vast, vast improvement over SwSh. PLA and SwSh, while fumbling the landing hard as fuck, are the first times theyve ever truly tried something new with the structure of their games since Gen 1 (maaaybe 2 if we're being generous). A refreshment and reconsideration of how the structure of their games work is what I've been wanting, and SV gave that to me.
Their issues now are largely on the technical and content side, which go more hand in hand than it seems. The fault doesn't solely rely on the Switch's outdated hardware, as proven by other games with comparable scope doing better, but it's no doubt a factor to consider. The Switch 2's inevitably improved hardware should theoretically work as a direct help for that. Furthermore, inexperience in the new open world structure will surely wane as they work more and more.
Lastly, time is the biggest issue here in my opinion, and Gen 10 is showing signs of having an additional year to its name, with it looking likely to release in 2026. As a sidenote to that point, the new studio being set up with ILCA, alongside TPC specifically addressing the time concerns shows that they at least are showing rare signs of initiative here. These are 3 major, major issues that all have signs of or outright are improving. I dont expect the next game to be an instant masterpiece GOAT of all time game, but I definitely see a positive trend.
