Gen 5 can't get another game, its too big brain for the average poketard. Genwunners threw such a tantrum over Gen 5 carving an identity of its own that Game Freak can't ever revisist Unova.
Meanwhile Gen 6 is has nothing to offer except the KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOO megas, making it a nice safe option for consoomers.

1. It's a stopgap title. Their focus is on the Switch 2.
2. They wanted an urban game. Lumiose is bigger than Castelia.
3. BW got sequels. A Legends game would add very little to Unova.
4. I wouldn't rule out BW remakes for next year as Switch 2 launch titles.
5. The bigger question is what they'll do with Johto and Kanto in 2028-2029.
