what's your single personal favourite move across the series? anything you specifically really like about it? any personal experiences with it that stick out in your mind? can be for any reason, be it appearance in the games/anime/manga, or even if you like it just because you can and because you simply think it's cool. i'll start: superpower. from its extreme power, the(usually) awesome animations that really sell its power, to the risk/reward factor it has(unlike close combat, as each use makes itself weaker due to lowering the user's attack so it's much harder to mindlessly sweep with it), i can't help but love this move, it simply always feels so impactful on the outcome of every battle. it also helps that so many of my favourite 'mons get it(armaldo, absol, azumarill, flygon, aggron, golurk... the list goes on), so i'm almost never left without a user for my playthroughs. i even love the idea of it being an elite move, as it's always been purely a move tutor move(and an expensive one at that) until gen 8. my only gripe is how little distribution it has in gen 3, being limited only to the regis in rse and the nidos in frlg(a shame because gen 3 has the coolest version of the animation in my opinion).

>>55674617 I like Flare Blitz because the idea of engulfing yourself in flames and charging full force at your opponent without the concern of the self inflected damage has always been cool. Honorable mention to Volt Tackle for being the same thing but with my second favorite type. Also loved this scene in the anime and is probably my favorite fight/rivalry in the show so I always think of this when I see FB. Oh and it’s fun to spam in Smash with Charizard.

I personally really like gen 4 Seed Flare, the sound of the attack and the violently shaking screen really sell the power of the attack

Always have had a soft spot for Body Slam. It was one of the best STAB moves in the earlier gens and the 30% parahax that comes with it is neat.

Special mentions: Lava Plume, Sludge Wave, Solar Beam (its gen 4 animation and sound are so satisfying)

Flash Cannon. When I first taught it to my Empoleon in Diamond as a kid I felt like a God every time I used it.

>>55674617 Gen 2 Aeroblast.
The colour inversion and the bright yellow beam make an excellent combination.

>>55674617 Gen 1 Bubblebeam and Rock Slide are unmatched to this day. The way the bubbles and, especially, the rocks are stylised and moving on the screen and the screen flashing back and forth is fantastic. And the sound effects on both... Oooooooof... Phenomenal. Imo the best both moves have looked and sounded to this day.

When my Torterra learned it in Diamond it was so broken that i thought it was the strongest move in the game.
...actually i may have been right about that.

Leaf Blade is the first to come to mind. I have a strong affinity towards Grass types, so it’s really nice that they finally wound up getting something of a Surf/Flamethrower equivalent and that it’s a cool sword-based move. Honorable mention to Signal Beam (RIP), I put that shit on everything. I want to say 2/3 of my original Platinum team knew it. Nice animation, and it’s fun getting to use a move type that you typically don’t see if you aren’t using a bug.

Also. Not a mainline game, but honorable mention to Marnie's Galaran Moltres in Masters for having the most brutal looking attack I've seen in Pokemon

Giga Drain. It's a Grass move that drains the life out of the enemy, with most visual representations of the move not even requiring any physical contact. It has a sort of Psychic-type adjacent appeal in that sense. The plant monster just kind of wills it, and the enemy wilts and withers away, replenishing the plant guy.

>>55674617 I was thinking about Gen III Superpower on my way home a few hours ago.
I realized how lame it is in Showdown.
Its distribution is odd and feels too restrictive. Not that I approve of Gen IV's fanfiction distribution of it.
Machamp should have got it. I don't know why Nidoqueen has it.

>>55674617 Swift, I wish I could say anything good about it but I only like the animation and the idea about it. in Gen1 it hit anything, even flying and dug in targets. Now its kind of bad. Too weak and the effect has been changed.
Shock Wave has been my fav since Mystery Dungeon Blue. Shooting out these balls at targets far away was my fav move through the entire game.
