Back when I was a kid, I saw the anime almost daily (until advance), but then I saw Blaziken, and the dex didn't recognize it. I was like "wow! What is that?!". Then my dad bought a PC, and one friend gave us Visual Boy Advance on a cd with lots of roms, both english, japanese, and spanish.
Then, a sticker album came out and my dad, who got a lucky streak of good earnings, bought it with TWO BOXES full of stickers. It was the only sticker album I ever completed. I saw the badges, the berries, the Pokémon.
Then, I played it. I pick Mudkip, and the rest is history.
For me, Gen 3 rules. The moment everything was familiar yet so different. A new adventure to go.
