yeah the exclusion of DP exclusives like stunky/murkrow/misdreavus is actually probably the only legitimate gripe with Platinum. although at this point there's no real reason not to just play hacks that include them. everyone accepts that you need mods to fix game like Skyrim, but for some reason it's still kind of taboo with Pokemon

Because they fucked up in Gen 5 by adding way too many new mons and gating the old ones off until the postgame.
Almost 500 mons in Gen 4 was already pushing it. Over 600 in Gen 5 is just a retarded amount and this was around the time genwunners were right to point out how ridiculous things had gotten, saying stuff like
>see, this is why they should have stuck to just the 151 original mons!
Gen 2, 3 and (barely) 4 got away with adding new mons. Gen 5 stepped over the line, so they had to pull back on the number of new mons per Gen after that. Frankly, 72 mons is still too many. These days they should focus on making maybe 20 new mons per Gen, but making the designs GOOD, instead of 80 garbage dogshit designs.

mismagius is honestly the worst exclusion of the four. cutting both honch and magius means the dusk stone is completely useless without trading, but the lack of magius specifically means there's only one ghost type in platinum that doesn't require a trade to fully evolve, which is drifblim.
i've said this before but i wish they did what crystal and emerald did and included both version exclusives from DP while cutting something else.

Oh yeah 1 bug line, 1 ice line, 1 ground type that isn't a legendary, and even then it's a secondary type....

I like the Gen 6 dex but it was lacking and needed a few more pokemon for type coverage
