No matter where you went or who you were, you could pretty much count that the other kids you met were at least neutral with pokemon and literally every kid had a favorite and either watched the show, collected cards, bk toys, or played. It was a big unifier on the playground.
It was also a time when shit wasn't as heavily monitored (jinx, misty sleeping in the boys' tent) because people still had their feet on the ground instead of spending all day looking for "problematic" shit to sue over, so by default it surpasses any peaks today.
Pokemania 2: PoGo boogaloo was pretty interesting too, since it captivated adults of all ages and gave our boomer parents a taste of what those games were like for us 20 years earlier.
