>>55857739>Look up fiscal in the dictionaryI know what fiscal means. It's fine to use in that context, just a little off and it's something I'd expect to hear from an older person.
>Being a good person is what society expects from you/usThat isn't what he said. He said "being what you call a good person" and uses the term "bare minimum". It's not just being about being a good person, it's the son believing he is a good person and also presenting himself outwardly as a good person for society not being adequate. The character hides behind the public facade of being a good person, but also has tricked himself into thinking as such, which has led to disastrous encounters and attitudes towards relationships and sex.
>It sounds contrivedThis also isn't an argument. You're just asserting this based on describing what it is. I can't argue against that other than saying I don't agree.
>Plus, sex is often described as an "exchange" of fluids and not a "release", but it is a release of endorphins,The character doesn't need to be graphically describing exactly how sex works to the minute detail to get his point across to his kid. He's trying to unsettle and shock him.
Sex is also not an exchange of fluids.
>You have this strange notion that I don't understand the storyI do actually, as seen in some of the examples above, but that wasn't the point of my last sentence.
The point of dialogue in a story is to make me understand the characters. It needs to have a proper flow, and to be effective should tell me more about the characters and what is happening in the scene.
All of this is present in the OP's dialogue. The fact that some word choices or phrases are awkward and can just be brushed off with in-universe explanations is tertiary to the fact that it works as intended.
