What we really need is an anime adaptation of PokeSpe and it's made toward Pokemon Adults.

That should oughta bring back some toughness in Pokemon again without libshits crying it's not "safe edgy" or womenshit like Chainsaw Man.

They did this because kids would actually get hurt pretending to be pokemon and fighting eachother.
I used to pretend to be bulbasaur and would vinewhip my brothers and throw rocks at them pretending it was razor leaf.

It wasn't necessarily Guts but rather the anime's interpretation of Guts. Abilities didn't really became a major factor in the anime until Gen 4. Ash's Swellow was established in the same episode he caught it as a Taillow to be really strong and resilient against Electric attacks. Thunder Armor just took that to its conclusion by having Pikachu and Swellow absorb the electricity into their bodies to power themselves up.

The actual ability Guts debuted in the anime with Paul's Ursaring and worked exactly as it does in the games.

Yes but battles have become increasingly non-violent. Everything has been toned down into a energy attack and Pokemon can just get back up immediately after fainting

That's not true. It was a new feature in gen 3 and they showcased it often through out advanced

Only for a select few like Garchomp and Lucario during Ash vs. Cynthia because the writers are too much of a pussy to show a knocked out Garchomp with the swirly eyes.
