My mom didn't get Pokemon but knew I loved it, so she'd often go to thrift stores and get me old Pokemania merch, this was like 2001 or so shortly after Pokemania really ended, so there was always a ton of old Pokemon stuff made for the hype floating around.
When I was around 9 or 10 or so she ended up getting me an entire Yu-Gi-Oh bed set, with a pillow or anything, because she thought it was close enough to Pokemon, of course I knew the difference and wasn't happy about it, though it's pretty ironic in hindsight since I like Yu-Gi-Oh way more than Pokemon now.
Even when I was an adult she knew I still liked Pokemon and would get me whatever Pokemon stuff she saw while she was out, the last time I remember it happening was when I was visiting and she got me I think the Gen 7 starts as...paper plates, it was sweet.
I should really call my mom, you guys should too.
