But really it comes down to you growing up and the series not actually slavishly copying itself to your generation's tastes, but rather adapting to what interests pre-teen kids again (because in case you missed it, Gen 1 and 2 had a whole aesthetic they wrote out of the premise by Gen 3. to better sell it to kids of the era).
