Only mentally ill autistic people "shiny hunt". By nature shiny pokemon are meant to be ephemeral, fleeting and beautiful. Not something you hunt down like cattle.
The only shiny pokemon that count are the pokemon you get on your casual play through of the story.

Nah, they were added to make people want to find them, but Tajiri forgot the world doesn't have his particular brain chemistry, to game for two days straight and sleep for one. Small wonder when it came time to buiild a new engine for it, they went and adjusted the rates and added more methods, to make people want to hunt them, knowing they may actually find one without nolifing the game for a month.
