You know what genuinely evokes the most joy for me with this franchise? The pre-release period, where my imagination goes nuts, and starting up that new release for the first time and being completely unaware what's in store for me. Most people, from what I've been told by others find nostalgia a hollow experience, but I genuinely feel joy, comfort and wonder. No other franchise can do that for me every time without fail, that's what makes it special to me.
Don't let other people's misery affect you, if you like the games or the franchise, enjoy them.
