I've never played PokéMMO and only watched some videos of it online.

What has your experience been with it? Do you recommend it or not?

you go through the stories of gen 1-5. you can collect lots costumes for your character which is neat. you don't get to keep legendaries they're treated as a king of the hill pvp mini game I think where you aren't allowed to refuse a pvp duel. they might have made an exclusion to that rule with one or two recently.

shiny hunting is praised to no end by their autistic community, its something ridiculous like 1 in 30 thousand since it gives people a proper end goal to work toward for months. but its just stupid. And then people will sell them; anything can be bought and sold for $$$. the only thing to do if you're not an autist at endgame is pvp. during events you can co-op and do raids. but not during events? you get nothing for endgame if you don't want to pvp. what kind of shit mmo doesn't have proper permanent co-op player v monster? no I wouldn't recommend it. shallow game

Playing through the first 5 gens with other players running around is quite fun.

But the end game? Holy shit it's the most miserable grindfest ever created. You will be spending thousands of hours grinding the most mind numbing dogshit imaginable just to create a gen 5 OU team that is still missing IVs.

They slowed down the game's progression to encourage shop purchases.
But still worth a look. Everytime I tried to make a thread on it, or we got a thread going, we had a sperg spam it cause he had some sort of vendetta against it.
If we get enough anons looking at it, I would like to pick it back up.

I've been on and off with it to the point that playing it feels more of a chore than anything.
I'm also sorta throttled that the game (and Pokerogue, for that matter) has evaded C&D takedowns from Nintendo when they've honestly issued them to other people over less. There's just that weird sense of not wanting to invest my time into something that can be stripped away without a second thought.
I'll probably pick it up in spite of that but who the fuck knows?

If you want to play through the games again with slight difficulty changes to em (Can't overlevel a gym until you beat it and some new mons for gym leaders for example) and being able to see random people running around then it's worth a try. Of course it's a rpg game made into a MMO with some stuff was changed to give it that carrot on a stick shit usually found in the genre so if you aren't a fan of that stuff then you'll probably hate it. Don't know if it's been changed but if you wanted to breed for pokemon then you'd lose the parents when you got the egg meaning you'd have to spend more time if you wanted to breed for a perfect IV one. Otherwise if you have the time then it's worth giving a try if you wanted to play through gen 1-5 again

It actually makes sense after I thought about it for a while. You get a pokemon with perfect IVs, you could flood the game with their children and the game's economy would be fucked.

Keeps players playing and buying items/pokemon in order to build teams for whatever tournaments that happen and gives others a chance to sell pokemon with good ivs/items in order to make dosh. It's very shit to do especially if you get unlucky with getting mons to have the right ivs but it'd be real easy to get perfect mons otherwise

That is literally every MMO by design and I fucking hate it.
Like I understand how >>58197155 puts it in that it validates the trading/selling of 'mons from those who put in the effort to get them, but in an MMO sense, this shit is fucking banal.

Everything that you could do quickly in pokemon is now as grindy and/or slow as an MMO
The auction house was nice
Must fight everyone for the legendary. If you catch it and log for >12 hours, it automatically releases itself.
Play all 5 original regions
Chat is equivalent to Twitch chat/discord chat
Cosmetic items are very hit or miss
Must pay real money's to not have an HM slave (get triggered) on your team
You never not need money. Breeding? Money. Completing dex? Money. Competitive? Money. Want to look like an individual? Money.
No new story events
They added some features from newer games like Alpha pokemon.

In my honest opinion I would strongly recommend you play real pokemon. As I had the constant looming thought, all of this work can be taken away by a cease and desist. They say they're protected because you must download the ROM, and since they dont supply it on their website, they aren't breaking laws. Paper thin imo.

Only efficient way for anyone without several years in the game to make money now is to do daily gym/trainer reruns and berry farms which are mind-numbingly dull and encourage multiple accounts.

It's a good middle ground for a slightly harder run through of the games but the post-game is kinda meh.

Stuff like catch events is fun but the community is very heavily focused on shinies. So unless you enjoy hunting them with a hilariously low rate (1 in 30k) it's not the game for you

You can buy the items with in-game money for the equivalent of like 1-3 gym reruns (iiirc prices correctly). It sucks but it's a negligible expense in the long term.
