>>36321109Given most corpses are buried without casket, they'd probably decompose too fast for grave robbing to be a consistent issue, rather, it comes from the idea that the dead should be respected even if they are no longer alive, the main issue would be animals that try to dig through the graves, since without a casket, the bodies would be easy pickings by any ambitious animal.
I eventually plan on writing a piece for gravekeepers to detail how they're recruited and how their figthing prowess is important, but in short, people that have been close to death, atoned criminals, soldiers that have seen a little too much, hunters that feel they've started doing too much damage, and just generally strong people that have gone through certain experiences would be common as gravekeepers
