I hate situations like this because it always reminds me how much I hate normalfags who think they're so high and mighty for defending some rando on the internet while also saying that parasocialism is le bad. I hate vtubers and artists in general. You see they don't actually see themselves as entertainers. Actual entertainers would need to scrape, suffer, and humiliate themselves never being allowed to break character or have "reality check" moments or hot takes. You see, they'll say that they are entertainers and that it's all fake anyways as a way to take any sort of responsibility off of themselves but fail to actually fill that role. Instead they expect (you) the viewer to be nice, respectful, and overly supportive to them as a total stranger while giving them money. In other words they expect you to treat them like a friend. They don't even realize that they're the more parasocial ones here. They are incapable of recognizing that they are in fact (you) are a customer. Their lives are so free and comfortable that they get to just be themselves for several hours and play games and assume in their mind that they're doing (you) some kind of service that deserves payment just for doing it. Most modern "artists" are like this. In reality, (you) are a customer, and could go to any other chuuba out there if you wanted but (you) are choosing to spend time and potentially money on them. You have every right as a customer to harshly demand they do what you want in exchange for your time and money. They'll say that "their fans make it all possible" but don't actually have any idea what that means. They just say it because it sounds nice and someone else said it before them. To them, you're just some faceless buddy wall that never gives expectations or demands in exchange for anything so they get to live their lives on easy mode. They can't accept the idea that people don't come for them, you come for the escapism and act they're supposed to be selling, no in their minds they're a gift to this world that needs to be protected. A circus performer, professional wrestler, or stage actor will gladly tell you that in real entertainment industries, where you're treated as the disposable characters that you are, that it's a harsh and extremely competitive environment where you don't get to have "reality checks" or hot takes or you get fucking dumped. Vtubing needs to become like that if you want it to be good. Vtubers need to stop being coddled, entitled, and parasocial. They need to be shown they have to play their character for their pay. Faunas mask off moment proves that she's exhausted, past her ability to keep up her character anymore, and can't keep up anymore. Her getting graduated and replaced would be the logical conclusion here but the vtubing industry is built on shaky foundations anyways and they're not trying to make it better
