>>61783443Carmilla was alright. There were a lot of cliches and you could see how the story would end from the very first couple of chapters. But to be fair, it's a very old book that predates when those things were cliches in the first place. When you read a lot of older novels, you notice this a lot and have to put yourself in the shoes of someone in the 1800's who would find such a story shocking and even disturbing in their eyes.
Also my favorite part of the novel was
when Mircalla's ex-lover back when she was alive is introduced via flashback in the last few pages of the novel as a literal Belmont-style vampire hunter, it fucking killed me. I'm guessing part of the reason she turns into a turbo lesbian is because she is traumatized from him trying to kill her with a whip.
