Also to touch on how it can sound like coping, yes, some writers can best translate their own struggles and experiences into their writing which in turn can help expel the negative feelings that surround them. It's a little like talking about your problems, but now you are in full control of how it plays out, and it can sometimes result in a fresh perspective on how to solve those issues in your own reality.
