I finished Planetarian and went straight to sleep, I just woke up, here are some thoughts:
Technically, the story was pretty simple, even unremarkable. On the other hand, there is something emotionally captivating about it that I can't let go. The contrast of the sad reality of the world and Yumemi's innocence. I was touched by the part where the Junker for the first time, lied to Yumemi about the next workplace, her "heaven" waiting behind the corner, and how Yumemi's definition of heaven was to work and serve the humans. There's something valuable about that kind of innocence, that is lost in modern world. This was of course just because she was a robot, programmed in certain way.
It also made me think about Fuwamoco. In terms of life experience in the idol field, Fuwamoco aren't innocent, they must be quite knowledgeable and aware of reality. Yet they still choose to nurture a certain sort of simple, innocent values, because it's important and something we all need. And that's why like the Junker did in the end, we should do our best to resist sad reality, and protect love and innocence that make life good. On one hand, you could call this "being a little broken" (like Yumemi) in terms of what is considered normal. On the other hand, it might be the path to happiness.
