Anyways, any actual singerfags in here? I've been thinking about Gura's performance on that latest public karaoke, in particular her jazz performances. They're absolutely glorious and I've been listening to them on repeat since then, but, as a jazzfag I've also been comparing it with proper professional jazz singers from the era. I feel like Gura does a pretty good job overall capturing the feel of the song and uses techniques appropriately but, as one would expect, and I don't mean this as a "wow gura bad singer" thing, she's lacking something major compared to the professionals. The way I hear it, I think it's a lack of volume, as in fullness of sound (not as in quiet / loud). It's particularly prominent in ballads like "Strangers in the Night" where it's almost there but it feels like there's something missing. I feel like it's harder to get that in the higher register her voice is in and I think she'll probably need serious lessons to improve that. Not being a singer myself I can't even tell if my analysis is correct or if my conjecture as to what the issue is is correct, any singer anons around that could give me a second opinion?
