>The absolute state of thingsI guess now that it's come to this I don't mind spelling it all out in plain English. Blog warning:
>>21764168>It happened because of (You) and (Me)No, it actually happened because of (You) all, not (Me)
When faggots are schizoposting, being offtopic and peddling rrats and misinformation, most other threads come out in droves to call it/ridicule the offender.
This is important, not only does it provide a feeling of being unwelcome to the undesirable, subliminally discouraging them in the long run(yes, even baitposters, if you do it right) but even more importantly, it reinforces the unwritten laws and standards of the general.
This is an anonymous forum, and this sort of constant rule reaffirmation is far more necessary than other sites, especially with such terrible 'drop-in drop-out' moderation, because what is acceptable is so dynamic. Doing your part to gatekeep, futile as it may seem in the moment, is indispensable to raising morale and combating bad actors. Maybe you think it's cringe. Who cares? Just do it anyway. Don't get into the weeds, just mock. Other threads instinctively understand this, but
Anyway, I say it is (You) and not (Me) because over the past new months, at least 30 or so percent of the gatekeeping has been me. I always wish wish more people would help out but it's rarely the case (besides in the throes of arcs, which I was happy to see). That said, I took a break from /pcg/ over the last week and lo and behold:
>an unironic thread split>schizos feeling completely welcome and doing whatever they please>not even an inciting incident, just accelerated social degradationI'm not saying any of this to puff my chest or point the finger at rightfully demoralized regulars (as you are the least at fault here and the largest victims), but just to outline one thing: if (You) don't gatekeep, nobody else will and there are consequences. Even /morig/, fucking Mori's general, the pariah of the entire board, manages to fare better because they don't just sit there and take it.
Even if it may not seem like it, I know for a fact that (You) outnumber them vastly. The power is in YOUR hands to medicate /pcg/, you just have to realize it.
In any case, I hope this place can go back to being conducive for /pchex/ members and they can return. I don't blame them for splitting at all tbdesu, but it hurts to see all the same. We've all had some great times.
