>>31109132>How does buying out upd8's share of INNK mean they stopped trying to be a tech company anonI may not have expressed myself well, mostly because I implicitly mixed Hololive Productions and Cover in the same train of thought.
Hololive started as a tech demo for Cover's 3D and Live 2D tech
> webm relatedand advancing the state of the art for that tech using Hololive as a showcase was the focus of Cover for the longest time.
But right around Bloom, Cover started realizing Hololive Productions is much stronger as an entertainment company than Cover would EVER be as a tech company.
Crypton 2013 technology was leaps and bounds ahead of what Cover (and Nijisanji) had in 2021, trying to compete with them in that segment was silly.
Even worse: Cover in house tech they developed alongside the expansion of the Hololive brand was inferior to THEIR VERY OWN Innonaka tech, underutilized at that point for only AZKi lives and the odd loan to Hololive, like for Rikka 3D
That's what I mean by Cover leaving the "tech segment", I doubt they aspire to compete with Crypton (and others) in the tech segment, they'll all in into Hololive both as an entertainment company and as a multimedia franchise.
