The tetris player strategy is to constantly flood the puyo player using t-spins, so the puyo player can't make any chains. But the puyo player can counter this by building up just one side. When they get flooded with trash, they can still access their balls on the side rather than on the top, and thus can still make chains. so it seems like the puyo player has the superior game. That's exactly what Marine did against Suisei.
