>>17741605If it's okay for a lurker to put an input, if one were to make a dedicated group for a group of people or people that are really close with each other, I do think discord would be the better choice because while everyone seems to deny discord, we cannot deny the fact that a lot of people are already using it, maybe even those who are denying discord, and is really a convenient way to talk with people. While IRC does sound good, I doubt everyone here uses it for their daily lives, it isn't as convenient as discord.
I do know about the aggie not being good enough as a group chat, exactly as to why I didn't mention it, and because it's not up all week. But if I were to guess why some users like using aggie, it would be the feature of being able to message someone privately.
If the reason for everyone denying or rejecting it is because of the popularity or because 'mainstream', I recommend guilded, works exactly the same but less scummy and more freedom. I swear I'm not advertising anything here.
Even then, there are a good amount of replacements that are better than IRC.
I do think the people here are close enough to use just an IRC for chatting. It simply is wasted for everyone here.
