This is similar to how most of gen y and gen z were 'latecomers' to getting driver's licenses, their parents not understanding that school classes educating kids in driving were defunded in the 1990s.
A lot of people fundamentally do not understand the concept of "a good education, a good teacher" anymore, they just think if you spend money or plob a kid near a book they will somehow acquire knowledge by osmosis- leading to ballooning university costs with dumber and dumber university grads. People seem to have lost a very necessary understanding of education as being something that has to be quality and actually teach you and that people don't just learn by existing.
This probably won't end until generation boomer is finally dead since they by far fall into the "I know how to change a tire why doesn't my teenage grandson somehow know how to do it from birth what a loser lmao" shit, unable to understand you need to teach people if you want knowledge to be passed on.
