>>2513962Well, i'm assuming you don't know japanese so i'll use stuff that has english subtitles.
For starters, if you want to understand her popularity, i'm going to link you a 4 minute news report & skit timestamp, turn on the captions.
https://youtu.be/ZjKLq_kneBo?t=991She used to make this show 5 times a week, it had incredibly high production values considering it was a one man show most of the time, she made everything and it took her around 6 hours of work every day, several hololive members used to be featured on every episode.
The popularity and importance of asacoco cannot be understated, she really took the vtuber world by storm for a solid 4-5 months, at it's peak there even were some nijis who used to end their streams to watch asacoco, a daily 6AM stream that got 20k viewers was unheard of at the time.
Tamaki puts it into words in this clip

https://twitter.com/Seele000/status/1234808674901614592Now, i'd be hard pressed to find a holo who is more misrepresented by clips than Coco.
She's the sweetest girl you'll ever find, she tries to put up a "strong" girl front and hates showing weakness, but it has slipped a few times, unfortunately more than ever given her current situation.
She's mostly a variety zatsudan streamer unlesss she gets really addicted to a new game like with Monster Hunter right now, she's not a streamer you will really be able to enjoy if you don't know japanese, the vast majority of her streams are entirely in japanese unless she's streaming a western game like say Terraria or Fallout at peak EOP hours, and unless she's playing Yakuza she will likely turn the stream into a zatsudan with the game as a background.
Her zatsudans can get pretty dark sometimes and her brand of cynicism appeals to an older (mostly salary-men) audience

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IufQxMuWKdsAnd even deep
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOPmdqaz444But she mostly talks about the stuff she does with those closest to her
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_Hwc8Qkwishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0uo4aLYTGIThere's also these kind of streams every now and then where she'll turn a year-old running joke into a display of pure autism
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cF8RVoQhsuABut instead of praising her more, i'll let other hololive members describe her for me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55WBW6rDUyghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHRvUkCrJWgHer popular clips will give you the impression that she's brash but she's nothing like that, she's always thinking about others and is actually very insecure about herself and is constantly making self-deprecating humor.
Coco is not a mass-appeal streamer nor is it for everyone, asacoco used to have very dark humor at times and her zatsudans can be hard to get into if you're young or can't relate to her struggles as a wageslave, but even as someone you don't watch, you should still value her contributions as a hololive member and be glad she's always giving her absolute best at everything she does, she's a great support-type holo who does a lot behind the scenes, she may even try to silence another holo member during a collab if she starts talking about stuff Coco did for her.
In a sense, i see much of Marine in her, Coco is another introvert who tries really hard to not show it, it's not like this anymore but during her first months she really used her vtuber avatar to roleplay as someone she isn't, hell i'd say she's actually the exact opposite in real life of what her character used to be.
