You say that if she only cared about money then she would be "grinding her ass off to maximize numbers", but she doesn't have to do that because the majority of the work for those events and merch are done by other people. Focusing on streaming won't maximize anything other than her relationship with her fans and her fans' ability to feel close to her.
However, the reason that Gura's merch sells well and she's able to acquire these sponsorships is because of her fans' dedication to her, which in turn is fostered and maintained through her spending time with them in the form of streaming.
So hypothetically, if Gura didn't care about her fans and her only concern was maximizing her personal profit while minimizing the amount of work she has to do, then she'd continue to seek highly lucrative sponsorships and collabs while doing the least amount of streaming required to maintain her fanbase and their feelings for her.
In other words, exactly what we've seen her do over the past 8 to 9 months down to the letter.
