>>27516614Mhm, I know that, but Sanallites don't. This is the 2nd encounter with them, with the first one being just a story told by a man who was sent to /hlgg/ on a diplomatic mission, not a full scale contact scenario. And this 2nd one, which IS that, started with us finding a couple of squirrels in a tent, fucking. So far, all they know about them is that they are about SEX and barely anything else. I feel like this would be a natural response, specially since you are completely foreign to us, for in universe characters. Caution. I try not to metagame too much when writing about us, so my knowledge of Risuners plays little part in the decision making of the characters.
And yes, you can call me a hypocrite, since these reasons can apply to deadbeats as well, but you also have to take into account how the two would interact with us. I would imagine the Risuners being a bit more rowdy, kinda like they are on a school trip, while deadbeats, coming from a military background, would most likely be more serious, like their caretakers of sorts. While both would be given attention, you can probably see why we would gravitate more towards them instead of you. Playful is nice and all, but not when you are first making contact. Things can escalate pretty fast, specially when the leadership just came out from an attempted coup d'état, which would most likely leave them pretty on edge about any unknowns.
Speaking of which, Rep, what's the deal with this btw? I have been meaning to ask for a while, but after what was an almost succesful coup trying to shake the very foundations we stand on, all we do is put up border checkpoints and that's it? We still invite any and all foreigners with open arms, when we already know of at least one that would drool at the thought of stealing our technology? I would imagine the leadership would be a little more careful with their foreign interactions, hell, maybe even go into isolationism for a while until they are certain things are under control. How do they know that the visitors are not just foreign allies of the "defeated" party, the arrival of which would surely help reignite the spark of rebellion?
