Mechanically doom is a tighter game that shaped video game level exploration despite it's limitations with various secret rooms, etc. Minecraft meanwhile kind of pushed the open world survival sandbox genre, something Infiminer never would have been. Modding wise, both are insane, with doom having a ceaseless content cycle even today and Minecraft being in a similar position. Both games have mods that overhaul them to ridiculous levels like magic in doom or avatar bending in Minecraft. Both have the best music for their respective genres.
