The spoken word through your story acts as a vessel to tell the rest of the world around the character either what they are thinking, or what they need another party to know. Putting yourself in the shoes of that character, and knowing what they know so far and how you are writing them to think, can help you figure out just the right words for them to say for the situation. You can also let characters bounce thoughts off each other if it pertains to the situation, a smooth back and forth sometimes looks and reads great, and really brings what makes your characters who they are come to center stage.
Practice writing specific characters and their interactions ultimately makes the process smoother and come more naturally though, so just keep at it, and it'll turn out great.
