>>61851316Same here. DMC and its descendants are in a completely different vein from all the Soulslikes she seems to have primarily played, I'm very curious to see the transition process for a player with her background, especially since she reliably has the temperament to shrug off any bumps along the way.
It'll be especially interesting to see how she reacts to a game that lets her rely almost freely on her greed and aggression, at the tradeoff of pressuring her to remember and make use of all her buttons and options this time. She's going straight from LoP, which demands focusing on good fundamentals and not much else, to a game where the jump/TS/roll fundamentals are relatively easy for a parryvet but it really wants her to use the "everything else."
Dunno if the Switch version improved it, but I'm also pretty convinced that DMC3's mechanics and intro are super opaque to a new player going back in 2023, so definitely want to see how quickly she actually picks things up, especially with the (de)buff of relying on chat instead of just looking shit up like a normal player.
And yeah, it'd be silly to expect SSS clears on a first blind run, let alone from someone who's never touched the series before, but the game will certainly allow her to get away with most bizarre strats or builds she decides to lock onto, so very curious to see what she decides to make work as well.
She basically ignored stage reruns in AC, but did actually go back and rerun stages in Holocure to try to get some clean runs, so if she does grind some autistic replays to git gud and git ranks in the DMCs, or at least the shorter/more fight-centric stages, I'll be a very happy pebble.
