I've mentioned this before ITT, but I'm a coda (Child of deaf adult), aka my parents are dead but I can fully hear. My mom is fully 100% deaf, but she never let's it turn her into a victim and has always worked her ass off to make something for us and herself. Just today she called me about a fucked up situation that happened with her and my little sister's school. My little sis is also CODA, and apparently she had a situation today where she got her ass beat by some bullies on her schoolbus. These kids already have given her problems before and my mom already talked to the school about them, but they never issued any punishments and let my sister end up black and blue. They took 2 FUCKING HOURS to call my mom about this, while my sis is crying in the office while staff are trying to yell at her for "provoking a fight". My ma ends up finding out by another parent in the office seeing my sis and texting her. She's rushes to the school from work, and shows up to see my little sis ushered into the principles office, with the blinds closed and door locked. She immediately asks the clerk at the school desk to be in the room for whatever they are asking her, and for them to get an official state licensed interpreter (it's legally required in my state for schools to bring ASL interpreters when deaf parents have to come in for meetings and serious business). They clerk tells her she can't go in the room yet and says they don't have the resources to get an interpreter. At this point she's fuming pissed, and writes own that she has a legal right to a state license interpreter, and to not have her child locked in a room without her being questioned. The clerk FUCKING CALLS HER UNLISCENSE DEAF FRIEND IN TO INTERPRET, WHO CANT EVEN HEAR, SO SHE CANT EVEN FUCKING INTERPRET PROPERLY. At this point my mom's pissed, she's writing furiously and yelling but she can't properly say words so no one helps her. It's not until she shows the clerk her dialing 911 on the phone that she slams on the principals door and gets my sister and the principal out. Mom sees the state of my sister and is livid, calls the police, and takes her to the E.R.
Right before leaving the principal hs the NERVE to get pissed at my mom and say "you should really have a hearing aid, they're cheap to get and you're just being a nuisance". My sister ended up having a mild concussion and bruises, and now my mom's trying to start a civil suit. It just pisses me the fuck off, you have all these corporations and virtue signaling faggots online saying we need to support the rights of disabled people but when the time comes to treat the like actual human fucking beings those same cunts can't eve manage that.
I had to come back home and comfort my mom while she's bawling her eyes out today. Fuck the public school system and fuck how this country treats the disabled. Nobody has any fucking sympathy for the deaf anymore.
