>>63193496Pygmalion was a sculptor who made a statue depicting his ideal woman, beautiful in every way. He treated this statue like his beloved and remained celibate, not pursuing any actual women. He hated the imperfections of regular women, and his longest held secret wish was that he would be able to find a woman like the one he had made out of ivory. During a festival to the goddess Aphrodite, Pygmalion made a large tribute to the goddess and prayed to meet "the living likeness of my ivory girl". When he kissed the statue (as he did each time he returned home) he noticed the ivory felt warm and softness to it. Seeing his devotion to his beloved and acknowledging the tributes and respect he gave, Aphrodite granted his wish by bringing his statue to life as his beloved. They married and had a happy life, including having one or more kids.
