For VShojo it was Mouse who showed up in recommended channels for me one day back in 2020, It was during her first attempt at Alien Isolation. I started watching Mel and Zen too in the following months.
Also I knew of Nyan from her old videos and covers but hadn't watched her streams till some time after her vtuber debut.
