We Catholics however know that the main event of Halloween (October 31) is All Saints Day (November 1) which is a Holy day of obligation which means all Catholics must go to church and All Souls Day (November 2) is the final day of this three day holiday. On Halloween we prepare ourselves for All Saints day, on All Saints day we commemorate all the Saints that have come before us especially since the majority do not have a feast day, and on All Souls day we pray for our dearly departed in purgatory. Here is a cool video that goes deeper into the origins of Halloween.
