And another note on the protectorate, I do believe that if Risuner himself did not elect to want more independence for Risu, it would have remained in place. There was some grumbling, but not a big push to annul the protectorate completely through a vote, as far as I can remember. Colonies and annexation are quite different from protectorates and vassalization, there is a different amount of sovereignty and self-governance at play.
