>>72622311>You can't really go viral as a vtuber.songs (almost) never go viral by themselves in general. it's hard to see artists "making" it with explosive popularity the old fashioned way nowadays, they always need support from something else to go beyond.
>used as promotional material>used as theme song for something else (especially anime)>memes>algo boost>kino MV that has immediate mass appealfor instance yoasobi, the j-pop darlings, had massively fucking popular songs recently with idol, yuusha and biri-biri, but all of those were attached to very popular media. umi no manimani which came a bit before idol was a standalone single and it was nowhere near as popular, even though they're mf yoasobi. nobody knows who lost horizon are, but start singing the monkey flip song and suddenly everyone knows what you're talking about. worst part is, all of those songs are great (except for idol i fucking hate that song) so there's no real correlation between quality here, it's all about exposure and the best you can aim to do is use that exposure to give people a cool song while they got their eyes on you.
that's kind of why i personally don't really care for all this "viral" discussion, it's all really fucking unpredictable. honestly bibbidiba is a great fucking pop song (loved it when she sang it for the first time no MV) and i'm actually kind of surprised it smashed so many of suityan's own records, i think at one point it was even accelerating? it was really fucking cool to see, but i don't like how people get lost in these stats and won't stop paying attention to them because they start linking their enjoyment of the song with its stats and that's a miserable way of experiencing anything; the song would not suddenly be better just because it accelerated and reached 10M in 10 minutes nor would it suddenly be shit just because its growth slowed down to 100 views a day, but i'm already seeing anons taking it that way.
kind of a blessing and a curse that it's had such amazing reception if you ask me. at least i'm glad the song is so fucking catchy, if it had been something generic or boring i'd be way less excited.
