Since it's neet hours and i have this Friday off, let me explain to you jobless fuckers how companies with global workforce actually functions.
Let's say you're in a "US timezone" team. It doesn't matter whether you're PST or EST. You're rolled into a single "US timezone" category because foreigners can't grasp the fact that one country can have multiple timezones. You're of course responsible for responding to messages and getting work done during normal working hours, i.e. 8AM to 5PM your time.
What happens outside of that time interval? More work. But more importantly, you'll have late night meetings scheduled by a mouthbreather on the opposite side of the globe who thinks the entire world operates in his timezone. I actually had one these cretins complain that I'm "going to bed too early" once. Bitch, it's 11 PM my time right now and the Earth is round.
You might be thinking, why can't I do the same right back to those people? If I do that, I get yelled at. The company can get away with implicitly forcing US personnel to work insane overtime hours (read: "exempt employee") whereas the overseas employees are coddled due to their local work culture, labor laws, nepotism, plus whatever other factors (god help you if your company recently offshore'd and is on a charm offensive to retain overseas workers). They get to schedule 11PM meetings on us with impunity whereas we can't do the same to them.
