Yes Fauna is a dweeb, but Fauna the keeper of nature would have a few key experiences or outlooks that you as the writer would mold into her that would allow her to be more possessive of what she feels is her domain, and how things should change to better suit her own vision. Using her relationship with saplings as a bar might also be a trap. Saplings are a strange and somewhat pitiable lot, so Fauna the chuuba keeping them at arm's length for her own sanity is the play she chose to make. She does have a fondness for animals though, which can actually play more well into the whole dynamic.
