That means a new circle of contacts (and don't worry about them being to in your face; programmers are a lot like you). Long employment gaps are something you need to be ready to explain, but not a deal breaker. Startups especially will be interested in people who have been writing code for themselves outside a company. Programmers are more sought after than they have been in years. You CAN find a starting position.
I can't give much advice on the girl thing. I've had some relationships in my mid to late 20s but none have worked out in the long term, so I can't say anything meaningful aside from trying to become confident in yourself before relying on someone else. Women come and go; don''t rely on them for your self-worth.
