>>54463293>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_idol#Dating_ban>Japanese_idol>JapaneseThat's the thing, though. Giving a shit about idol culture is highly anomalous in the west, even among anime fans. And I'm not shitting on idol culture, that's just facts. Prior to /vt/, the main place I could think of where you could find anyone who took it seriously was /jp/, but even they thought that the Japanese outrage over the Aya Hirano scandal and similar events were extreme to the point of being funny back in the day. My memory could be wrong, but I don't recall it being taken so emotionally or personally at all. People like this do exist in the west, but the sheer number of them going after vtubers seems disproportionate to me, and the style feels off too. Not even boy bands or OnlyFans girls get this particular style of it.
So maybe I'm just finally going schizo, but I'm starting to doubt that it's coming from the usual retards of our western fandoms. I'm starting to seriously consider whether there are other factors at play, such as cultural attitudes (IE, Islam and women) from other large countries (Indonesia is fucking massive, 282,648,040 people) being mistakenly included when trying to understand the popular opinions of vtuber fans in the west, because they're all in English, and there's no reliable way to identify their origins.
