Y'know, back in the pre-2020 times, Gen 1 and Gen 2 streamed their butts off and grew Hololive to where they got in 2020, and by then they had enough members and variety in content to attract a wide audience - while ALSO having a "big family" CGDCT atmosphere that their competitor lacked.
ホロライブあったけえ is something people say to this day.
A lot of anons say that ENs are lazy, but I'd argue that westerners in general have a lower work ethic compared to Japanese, because they prefer having a good work-life balance.
3-4 streams a week are considered "normal" for a western streamer, and Myth + Council have had 2 years of streaming that amount of time almost continuously since debut. About the same time that Gen 1 and 2 were streaming continuously.
They even had fresh content early on, stuff like Mythbreakers, Holotalk, Fish Tank, smol 3D etc. were innovations within the EN VTubing sphere.
But while a lot of Gen 1 and 2 Holos were able to somewhat "semi retire" thanks to Sankisei, Coco and the newer gens taking over the reigns in various areas, EN has not had that luxury.
I'd argue Gura, Mumei, Ame and all the other EN Holos that are on break today have done more than their fair share in streaming under Hololive and spreading the Hololive name. Remember how Fubuki talked about the pressure she felt when she was No.1 within Hololive, and how much of a relief it was that Coco, Korone, Marine and eventually Pekora took the reigns from her? Look at how comfy her streams are now, and even now and then she can pop on a FOTM game and get 15 - 20k people watching her.
Gura wants this as well, the pressure of being the top is really not good for her mental state and streaming capability (hell, even a fucking streaming giant like Asmongold can crumble under the sheer weight of having 100,000 eyes on you). But unlike in JP, there's no "new ENs" to take over for her.
In fact there's been no ENs at all. HoloEN's ultimate failure is writ here as well, and the lack of EN3 and EN4 by this time period comes up again, just from a new angle this time.
A lot of people in /#/ use the supposed "laziness" to shit on ENs, but forget that there have been very similar talents in JP as well. And just JP, EN also has earlier talents that have no issue to keep going (Kiara, Mori, Ina etc.) while those that want to slow down like Gura and Ame are dogpiled for no fault of theirs.
If you ever feel the need to shit on one of the girls for supposed "laziness" just remember that they haven't had the luxury of the easy path to retirement that JP holos were given.
