>>59016582A lot of games would have a loud bang, flashing lights, and screen shaking with no warning. These scares are mild and built up, and they give you a good idea of what's coming beforehand. It's traditional horror. The notes, set pieces, and unnatural soundscape all set the mood very nicely, but Pippa doesn't really react outside of the scares.
"Jumpscares" are a problem only when they're used as a band-aid for a game otherwise not being scary at all. If you watch Tenma's POV of Faith, you'll see she was hanging on by a thread way before the "scare" that finally got her. The same section even fucked Airi up even though it was just walking in the dark with occasional glimpses of enemies, not even remotely a jumpscare.
