There's genuinely nothing inherently scary about videogames, unless you really try to immerse yourself into the game and let yourself get uneasy by something fake.
There was this "game" called "Don't Scream" and the point of the game is to, well, not Scream or you get a game over. There's quite literally nothing scary but the occasional shadow monster that pops up that doesn't even fucking attack you, and even if it did it's just a game, Just quite simply do not get scared. It's BECAUSE of this though that screamers/loud jumpscares are a thing. It's to get people who are otherwise unenthused and they want to at least give something that'll make a person jump even if it's dumb fuck cheap tricks to say "hey haha look this IS scary, you see? You jumped!"
