>>56385212I'll always recommend a core class for a beginner. Barbarians, Paladins, Sorcerers, Bards, Rogues, Rangers. I recommend Paladins, Sorcs and Bards primarily because they all give you a taste of spontaneous casting and also melee, and they are all high-CHA focus so you can build a good party leader for most dialogue situations.
Second time around I recommend a non-spontaneous spellcaster, primarily a Cleric or a Wizard so you get the full picture of what classes can do, and how magic REALLY works. If you're a heavy strategist or turn-based RPG enthusiast, these are the best with options. 5E D&D is kinda garbo for real options though, but BG3 has enough for newer players to enjoy.
