>>59822500>>59822936I once read a story about how a person died and their ghost wasn't able to pass on, instead the ghost stayed by his wife's side and protected her however he could, so this is kind of inspiration taken from that. I don't remember the title of the book sadly, but it was pretty heart warming in the ways he'd do things, not exactly the same as what I wrote up but, well, as per usual, enjoy?
>It's been a few years now>Your accident was truly a tragic tale, the news had been reporting it for an entire week>An older brother died, saving his younger sister from a fatal accident>The older brother had died instantly, he didn't even have time to feel pain.>More specifically, you died instantly.>Reincarnation? Regression? Perhaps even travelling to another world? Heaven or Hell? Perhaps even total darkness?>None of those happened to you.>You instead remained on earth, but now as a ghost.>You were able to interact with electronics, affect the temperature around you, even cause shadows to appear, thus being able to influence and haunt people if you so desired.>You wondered why you weren't able to pass on. Perhaps you had regrets in this life? Well, you knew you did.>You always regretted not being able to spend more time with Shiori. Your precious imouto.>As the years went by, you stayed by Shiori's side, making use of your inability to pass on, you accompanied her wherever she went.>Shiori also seems to understand in some way, that you are with her even now. >Occasionally she would look in your general direction where your ghostly, invisible form, stood beside her and smile.>Shiori, at working in hospitality for a part time job>You stand by her, watching over her as she clocks in the hours of her shift.>Every now and then, there would be a particularly rowdy customer who would raise their voice on Shiori>Shiori, trying her best not to feel intimidated or cry, apologizes to the customers and tries her best to make up for the situation>You would always take offense to these, and would do various things such as making the offender feel unnatural chills, shattering glass in their hands when Shiori was away so she wouldn't be blamed for it, and even showing ghastly reflections in various reflective surfaces as a means to scare them.>Everytime it would work and they would leave, scared that the innocent part-time waitress had somehow cursed them, but not having the courage to confront her.>Your ghost life would continue like this for a long while, until one day, a particularly rude customer had approached Shiori.>He was the very definition of a sex pest, he had been stealing glances at Shiori inappropriately and now he gazed at her, obviously with the intent to harass her.>You wouldn't let it happen of course, so you begin your ghostly work once more.>As the customer begins to approach, he calls out to Shiori, going as far as to refer to her as "Shiori-chan" in a rather disgusting voice.>You can immediately tell that Shiori wants nothing to do with this man, and that's when you make your move.>As he makes his way towards her slowly, you cause the lights above him to explode, shards of glass from the light bulb landing on and around him>Instantly he's shaken, but it looks more like anger rather than fear, as if undeterred and instead more desperate.>More concerned for your imouto than ever, you do something you never thought was possible>You manage to manifest a part of yourself, an ugly apparition appearing in front of the man, the wails of death screaming at him>Suddenly the man falls back, looking as if he were about to piss himself from the experience.>He quickly rises to his feet and begins to run, but you aren't through with him yet.>As he enters his car, and begins to drive off in fear of being haunted, you manifest yourself as a faceless shadow in his rear view mirror.>He panics and finds himself speeding off, the police noticing and chasing after him shortly after.>Before you're whisked away with the man, you simply step out of his car and slowly return to Shiori's side>There you find her, apologizing to her manager for what had happened, her manager clearly concerned for her safety had offered her a ride home, but she politely declines, and instead asks if she could return home early, a notion that her managers easily agrees to.>As Shiori gets in her car, you sit next to her in the passengers seat>There, for the first time, she finally says it.>"Thanks for looking out for me, onii-san, as you always have.">You look at her, surprised, although she obviously can't see the shock in your face>Instead, you simply acknowledge it, by resting your ghostly hand on her shoulder and allowing the temperature to drop around your hand>She giggles a little, knowing that her protective older brother is still there for her.
